Monksdale Road Bridge Approved

Public Consultation - Monksdale Road Bridge

The application to reinstate bridges over Monksdale Road and Dartmouth Avenue have been approved by the Council’s Planning Department.

The bridges are part of the Two Tunnels Project and will provide a continuous and flat route for cyclists, walkers and the mobility impaired along the Linear Park.

Sustrans consulted local residents in the autumn of last year about the planning application and the vast majority of the community were in favour.

Will, Shaun and David, who are long time supporters of the Two Tunnels Project are delighted with the decision. We understand that construction of the bridges will commence this autumn (subject to confirmation).

If the bridges are not going to be in place until the autumn would it be possible to put narrow surfaced paths down from the route to the roads which have to be crossed. I recently cycled along and had to get off and push my bike over loose stone. I don’t mind pushing my bike down the steep bits but the surface is so rough and sometimes I have to push a grandchild in a pushchair along Linear Park and the loose stone makes pushing very difficult if you are a small person as I am. I presume when the path is finished that there will be access at these bridges from the roads up to the path and the access paths will be tarmacked as is the case at Maple Grove. Please could the access paths be put in now.
